Hello Friend,
Thank you for caring enough to visit our nonprofit organization’s web portal. If there is anything you feel we have missed, please send me a personal email. My name is Anthony May and I am the founder of Men For A Cause™. If you are here, we probably share the common bond of having been directly or indirectly touched by cancer. I will share with you just a few of the brushes with cancer that have led me to burn with passion to eradicate cancer.
People often ask why I founded Men For A Cause, United Against Breast Cancer. Throughout my life journey, I have encountered cancer of many types… Cancer comes like a thief in the night and you never expect to be the one. This infamous bandit has invaded the lives of many of my loved ones utilizing many aliases from Basal Cell Carcinoma to Invasive Ductal Carcinoma… I have watched as those dearest to me have faced and recovered from nonlife threatening but yet still deeply emotional invasions of cancer and I have watched a beloved take their last breath… My step mother Momma Max passed away from cancer when I was about 16 years old and she is survived by my two half brothers and a sister. As we all know, life is challenging enough without experiencing the unforgiving wrath of cancer. For my siblings or anyone to lose their mother at a young age, it is eternally damaging.
The decision to found Men For A Cause was made after the love of my life’s sister was diagnosed with breast cancer and I decided to research the disease to better understand cancers in general. While researching, I stumbled upon a website that contained photos of women whom had radical mastectomies and I was touched so deeply by the images. I knew right away that I had to somehow contribute to a solution. In addition, I was shocked to discover that men get breast cancer too…
While doing my research, it became painfully obvious that male education about breast cancer had somehow been overlooked. The world had successfully formed a “pink sisterhood” but had somehow overlooked educating and supporting husbands, boyfriends, fathers, brothers and sons who are also affected when a woman in their life is diagnosed with breast cancer. It was also apparent that awareness of male breast cancer was virtually nonexistent…
Cancer has had a profound impact on me, my dear friends, and family. I want to utilize my skills and resources to educate, motivate, and empower while funding research for a cure of this insidious and often grave disease. I see how their loss has affected their lives and if I can do anything to help prevent another family from experiencing the loss of a loved one, I will. Men, I ask you to join me on the front lines of the fight against breast cancer.
On behalf of all the women and men who are fighting, survived or lost their battle with cancer, my step mother Maxine Valdez May, her loved ones she is survived by, and Men For A Cause™, we will make a difference. If you have been robbed by cancer in any way, the thoughts and prayers of everyone connected with Men For A Cause™ are with you and your loved ones.
